PLAN THE PERFECT VALENTINES DAY

Maybe you’re celebrating years together or only months, regardless, once a year, we are given a chance to remind our loved ones just how much they mean to us. Although your local Wine Rack can provide a wide range of wines, beer and spirits to suit any occasion or budget, we wanted to give you a few ideas on how you could plan and execute the perfect night to show your loved one just how much they mean to you.

So, some might say it depends on whether you’re planning a night for a boy or a girl? Whereas that might be true for a present, planning a romantic experience shouldn’t rest on the sex of the person you’re planning it for.

Planning the perfect Valentine’s Day relies on you not forgetting the basics:

  1. GET YOUR CARD

Yes, it sounds silly, but you don’t want to be buying the only card left at the local corner shop.

  1. PLAN YOUR MEAL

In or out, it doesn’t matter, just make sure you book in advance if you’re planning to take someone out. If you’re planning a night in, we have you covered, and you can check out our recipes section of our site for some great meal inspiration.

  1. THE FINISHING TOUCHES

Flowers, chocolates, wine, etc. Weirdly these tend to sell out very quickly, so if you want that special bunch or box, get it planned and ordered/bought early.

Now you have your basics, it’s down to planning how you are going to present these items to your loved one, in a way, this is the main event. Of course, you can do the usual like just the meal or cinema, but we wanted to give you some ideas about how you could do something a little bit different and make your Valentine’s Day a night to remember!

NIGHT-TIME PICNIC

Ok, so this could be heavily reliant on the weather. Still, regardless of whether this is in the park, a significant location to you or even in the garden at home, it’s something different from the normal and means there will be no distractions and you can concentrate on just the two of you.

MEMORY MAP

Why not create a trail of memories that lead your loved one to a special spot or even better your evening meal? This could be done all within your house, or if you’re really ambitious (and confident in your partner’s ability), you could extend it outside the home and have them arrive at a restaurant.

LEARNING SOMETHING NEW TOGETHER

There are loads of really great sharing experiences out there, one of the best we have seen is sushi-making lessons from YoSushi, perfect for combining your experience and your meal in one. Staying in? A great option would be to stream Life Drawing Live! on BBC iPlayer and brush up on those artistic skills. Who knows, you might end up with a masterpiece!

These are only a few ideas, and the truth is that no matter what you plan, as long as it’s not last minute, it’s the thought that counts. Just remember not to stretch yourself as your other half will probably want to spend the evening with you rather than watching you run around from afar.
